this is some of the worst craftsmanship I've seen in years...
I understand that the thrift thing is bigger than ever- trust me, going in public means being assaulted by 22 year olds wearing the most god awful early nineties shit that they were barely alive to remember. Like southwestern printed safari shirts and clogs. CLOGS. And this is the problem. Most people do not have the style strength or wit to be able to pick and pair vintage clothing. It doesn't matter at all what the latest era trend happens to be- '90's, "70's, "30's- whatever. There are terrible fashion aspects to all of them. The key is to be able to discern the good from the bad, which most people cannot do. So, while the general population can't get it: fuck you, Marc Jacobs.
You are a fashion designer. your product should push forward and be inspirational. Or at least be well made...
This collection is none of those things. Its the worst, most hideous "vintage" fabric choices I've ever seen. I would describe these models as looking like the neighborhood crazy cat lady. Or like Tavi Gevinson, if she had absolutely no access to designer clothing.
I'm unsure if this 2012 resort collection is aimed at making fun of those unfortunate enough to try to pull off a late vintage theme, or if you're actually suggesting that these clothes are desirable in any time period(like today), but either way, FUCK YOU, Marc Jacobs.
