Reem Arca: Cool Catwalk

SS13 @ Reem Arca=
Cool Catwalk.

WOW! Look at the Catwalk! It's So Blue.....

...And Shiny!!

But what is it made of??

Is It Water?

Oh no, I can see past this boring black suit that it must be metal...

With a blue backdrop...

...Cool.

So the Catwalk was probably the most exciting thing about the Reem Arca Presentation, however
There were still a few notable pieces...

But only if you have a perfect body,

don't have ANY cleavage wrinkles,

Still find Hot Pink "exciting"(as you can tell by this models face, she sure does),

And don't mind your underwear showing.

Eh.

Jenni Kayne Does Chloe Sevigny...

That's Right, Chloe Sevigny
...'Cept All Kinds of Yesterday.

No, These clothes are not representative of the ever lifeless, but always "edgy" Chloe.
"Fashion Risk Taker".
"Trend Setter".
"Festival Goer".

These clothes are representative of Chloe...like 5 years ago.

This shit has already been made, sold at Urban Outfitters, and probably had time to cycle through Buffalo Exchange TWICE

Get a clue, Jenni. Styling your model like someone  the media looks to for fashion blurbs hardly masks the fact that your collection is utterly DOA.

Ulyana Sergeenko: баснословный!!

Like little russian dolls.
I just want to pick them up by their tiny waists and repose their fixed 45 degree angle arms.
And then spend hours trying to remove/ replace their fabulous shoes from permanently tippy-toed feet.
They are, after all, in a perfect proportion.
Complete with shiny, plasticy legs and cute, round circles of painted on blush at their cheeks.
Perfect, perfect.

I love everything about this collection. I love the color choices, the weight of the fabrics. I love the coloringbook exaggerated simplicity of the shapes. Feminine, ULTRA feminine, despite military undertones. The shoes- be still, heart.
Although I am semi-obsessed with all of these outfits, this new designer must have another angle to play for later collections. There can be the only one perfect doll russia. Fable. Because although it's totally amazing, I've seen enough.
Leave it.

I'm waiting to see what else she can deliver....

баснословный!!
Fabulous.

Fall Couture 2012: Space Hookers

Fall Couture this season was an across the board NO.
Couture is usually the most exciting, thought provoking, and inspirational part of all things fashion.
This season everything looked like either a take on cheap "80's club wear, or a take on....the Golden Girls.
But how to best describe these collections??
AHA!
SPACE HOOKERS.

Versace

Chanel

Jean Paul Gaultier

Givenchy

Christian Dior

Valentino

Giambattista Valli

Alexis Mabeille

Holy hell.

Elie Saab

Maison Martin Margiela

Armani Prive

Two For!

The biggest disappointments were Elie Saab and Valentino for me.
The Versace collection was as gawdy as ever, but I enjoyed the patchwork dresses.
Givenchy, who I always praise for couture, fell a little flat for me as well, however that house still produced some really intricate and labor intensive pieces, albeit not my favorites to look at.

The one saving grace in all of this was a designer named Ulyanna Sergeenko, who I had never heard of before. So she gets her own post.

In closing,
 WTF.
