Over the last few days, the same treads have been running just as srtong through most of the collections. Sometimes they have even seemed to almost be part of one giant collection, as the themes are rather limiting this season. I did notice a few new trends, like mesh. MESH.
To sum up briefly, as the beat goes on...
There's the GOOD

Alexander Wang |
This jumpsuit thing may seem silly, but I find the design and attitude of it stunning. Not really something most would be able to wear, perhaps. But nonetheless, I love it.

Christian Siriano |
Little ol' "fierce" Christian Siriano- the only winner of project runway to actually have seen some commercial success- is actually pretty good. This season still showed some of his typical signature over the top rufflage, but then there were pieces like this one. I love the simplicity of it. I love the juxtaposition of the tshirt and formal skirt. I like that i can't really tell what material the skirt is made out of...it looks soft, though.

Libertine |
Libertine scored looks in my good and ugly categories. Which pretty much sums up their collection. It was equal parts hideous and pleasant. Most confusing, was a tshirt that only said "haricots vert". WHY? Guess i missed something important about green beans being a statement, especially when the other print shirts in the collection say "tax the rich more". Ugh. Anyway, this suit is very severe, yes. But on that model with those legs, wow.

Lacoste |
I really enjoyed a few of Lacostes offerings for spring. Like this dress. I love the cut here, the proportions are interesting. Its just as girly as it is sporty. I only wish the little hardware attachment weren't so crotch adjacent, but, small detail.
The BAD

I don't even feel like i need to explain why this is bad.

Libertine |
Here's a Piece from Libertine that makes me want to slap it. This print is awful. The shorts are awful. No Man would wear this. Ahem, no man who is NOT going clubbing in germany in 1997.

Ummmmmm, No.

Duro Olowu |
Can this really be considered a leopard print? It just looks cheap. Really, really cheap.

Nothing says high fashion like an exploded wallpaper print jumpsuit. No!!
WINNER?
Prabal Gurung.
I Loved Prabal's Collection. Probably mostly because the color and pattern schematic was vastly different from everything else Ive seen so far this season. I Love the cutouts and the play between soft and hard. The prints are beautiful. They aren't anything I havent seen before, but they were used properly and had a place. The purple and white sheer dress makes that model look like a butterfly- but in a suggestive rather than a literal way. The silk shorts are smart and the length isn't ridiculous.
Yes!
Now to wait again for more and more stuff to walk. I wonder if doing some kind of tribal dance would precipitate some more exciting shows.
Nah, unfortunately the Gods don't care about fashion.
Oh well. tick tick tick.
